Readers of Poetry

The Readers of Poetry group of the Cultural association of Feketic was founded in 1995 as a drama club with 16 young and enthusiastic children lead by Julia Barta. They had rehearsals twice a week. At the beginning they abridged folk tales and had their first performance based on the story of Zoltan Zelk "Az ezernevu lány" (The girl with thousand names).

In the spring of 1996 they joined the workshops of the "Szép Szó "Camp organized by the Association of Hungarian Readers of Poetry in Vojvodina (Vajdasági Magyar Versmondók Egyesülete - VMVE). The drama group from our village received support from Olga Krekity, the founder and president of the VMVE. In the Camp the readers received a better training using new methods that were acknowledged by the members who started to recite poetry as well. The VMVE organized summer and winter camps each year and our children always took part: studied, worked on themselves, and took part in the productions. The participants received much from the excellent trainers: László Bartók, László Virág, András Pataki, Ervin Németh, Jánosné Dr. Stollár, Aunt Kati and the late Tibor Pintér.

The children continued their rehearsals even after the camps. The continuous and regular work showed its results. They regularly attended the Recital Contests in Vojvodina and always came home with 1st, 2nd or 3rd prizes. The taste of success made them work harder and more. Being successful at the contests at home they were invited to the important contests in Hungary. So they went and won.

* 1999 - Adél Kelemen won the 1st prize at the "Gyöngy a csillag" Meeting of Readers of Poetry and Prose
* 2000 - Adél Kelemen won the 3rd prize at the "Regösök húrja" Contest of Readers of Poetry and Prose
* At the "Anyám fekete rózsa" International Meeting of Readers of Poetry and Prose we were represented three time by Irén Kormos, Ágnes Fekete and Zsanett Kasza and won awards
* At the 5th and 6th "Csengey Dénes" Contest of Readers of Poetry and Prose Irén Kormos and Ágnes Fekete won awards
* At the 5th "Rokon Népek Költészete" Contest of Readers of Poetry and Prose Anita Tóth, Ágnes Pál and Ágnes Fekete won awards
* 2002 - at the "Örök pódiumon" Contest of Readers of Poetry and Prose that was commemorating Tibor Pinter our readers also participated, Ágnes Fekete won 2nd while Ágnes Pál won 3rd prize
* 2003 - at the "Sinkovits Imre" International Contest of Readers of Poetry and Prose Ágnes Fekete won 3rd prize
* Two times the readers participated in Szatmárnémeti as well and there Ágnes Fekete won 3rd prize while Anita Tóth and Ágnes Pál won awards.

The most beautiful activity for them is to be a part of the cultural life of the village.Their programmes are always on a high level and many spactators come to see these events. They promote nice speech, love for the mother language and culture. There are very few villages that could say that they have fourteen recitors. They successfully participate at events such as book reviews and. They are succesful on stage and they are very good directors, too. Only to mention the latest:

- George Orwell: Animal farm-fairy tale in one act. Compiled, adapted, directed and performed by the recitors of The Culture Association of Feketic.
- Illyés Gyula:Lost in paradise ( directed by Ervin Németh)
- A performance called "Child of Heaven and Earth" ( directed by Olga Krekity)
- A play entitled "I remember everything" in the memory of Jozsef Podolszki (Directed by Olga Krekity and Andrea Lódi)
- Compilation of poems for Mothers' Day recited by Irén Kormos. (directed by Julia Barta)
The small team has now grown up but there are new children in the village and they will be working with the first generation of recitors. There is nothing better to wish for!

The recitors in 2004 are:
- "The first generation" university students: Ágnes Fekete, Ágnes Pál, Anita Tóth, Irén Kormos, Hajnalka Farkas, Adél Kelemen.
- "The second generation" adolescence group members: Lili Simonyi and Zsanett Kasza
- "The third generation" pupils: Ákos Szarka, Csilla Lódi, Krisztina Tamás, Viktor Szalajevics, Adél Kerekes, Tamara Miljkovics and Beatrix Farkas.
