Berkenye " Sorb tree" folk dance group
In the year of 2002 the folk-dance group for the youngest was formed by Csilla Gogolák and she named it Sorb Tree. The group has 26 members aged between 9-10 and they are very happy to attend this section twice a week. Their first major appeariance was in 2003 in Becse. It was the "Köketánc", a contest from folklore and folk children's play. They performed a children's play from Tolna county, Hungary. Soon after this little group became a folklore section on its own.Their first task was to attain an Transdanubian compilation, then to attain one "Sárközi" trundle and now they are preparing a dance from the Great Hungarian Plain to participate at the annual "Köketánc" contest. During this year they will appear in programs which will be organised by local Culture Association. This folklore group is already performed in several villages in the county Bánát, in Torda and in Magyarittabé.
The group leader, Csilla Gogolák decided to maintain and to strengthen the Hungarian identity among the youngsters, and to acquire the folklore and the old hungarian tradition. The children are very intrested in national history therefore the dance teacher tells them true stories about revolutions, the poet Petöfi Sándor, and they already know the Hungarian national anthem. They also had conversations about Hungarian customs and about basic rules of behaviour.
